The neck and the brain are inextricably linked. In order to pursue a solution the growing problem of injury to the brain, we needed to think differently.
It is universally understood, in the scientific community, that injuries to the brain (and neck) are most commonly the result of acceleration force placed on our anatomy. The rapid acceleration (and deceleration) of the head/neck complex, whether from a direct blow to the head or inertial forces (without a direct blow to the head) is the key component to understanding and solving this issue.
The field study of the head, neck, brain and the forces placed on it in vivo (in living humans) is evolving. Kapsul is evolving with it to lead a new direction of both technology and research, with some of the world leading Orthopaedic and Neuropathophysiology partners. This science using some of the newest technology, including world leading motion sensors, finite element modeling (deployed in the automobile industry for crash testing), advanced neuroimaging and thousands of subjective tests have created Kapsul technology. This science is indicating how the neck and the brain are linked, how Kapsul Technology can dissipate acceleration force at the neck, and how it will reduce stress and strain in both the neck and the brain.

Many types of force are experienced by the head and neck during sport or military service.

Our first objective was to understand the growing problem of mTBI and concussion more deeply.
It's globally understood that mTBI and other injuries to the brain are most often caused by acceleration forces placed on our anatomy.
The rapid acceleration (and deceleration) of our brain inside our skull is the core component of brain damage.
We deployed world-first research including wearable accelerometers, Finite Element Modeling, and real world testing. Our science showed if we can dissipate acceleration force at the neck, it will reduce the amount of injury causing force experienced by our brains.
Evolving Safety Standards
The safety standards concerning brain, head, and neck protection in sport are still in their infancy. We believe sport does far more good than bad, even in it's current form. Changing the way we play game is not an option.
Kapsul Tech will continue to invest in research to better understand injury to the head, neck and brain, leading to the creation of better protection equipment as to maintain the integrity of sport.
